FAQs

Is the reunion sponsored by Liberty University?

No. It is privately sponsored by the Liberty Reunion Association, but with the full endorsement and cooperation of the university. The Liberty Reunion Association is an unincorporated nonprofit association formed exclusively for the reunion with Lamar Keener, Mark Roberts and Bob Dunn serving as directors.

Who is on the advisory/planning committee?

Lamar Keener and Mark Roberts are heading up the committee. Additional members include Theresa Grassel Keener, Paula Oldham Johnson, Jane Sims McHaney, Debbie Kesterholt Benoit, Buz Offenbacker, Karen Oldham Offenbacker, Bob Dunn, Tom Turley, Diana Murphy Turley.

Who is invited to the reunion?

Anyone who attended or worked at LBC in the decade of the ’70s: Students, staff, faculty, administration, and their spouses.

Convocation transportation

Reunion guests should park in the TRBC parking lot by TRBC Main Street for the 10:30 a.m. Friday Convocation. LU Transportation will provide a shuttle bus service between TRBC Main Street and the Vines Center from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Please be on time as it takes a good bit of time to get in due to security measures.

Convocation clear bag policy

To expedite entrance to the Vines Center for Friday’s convocation, Liberty has implemented a security screening process that includes a clear bag policy. This initiative limits the size and type of bags that can be brought in. Only clear tote bags that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″, or, one-gallon plastic freezer bags, are allowed. In addition, small handheld clutch purses no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ will be permitted.

What is the dress code?

Unlike our time at LBC, there is no prescribed dress code and we want everyone to be comfortable. However, we do have a few suggestions to help you feel prepared for each event.

Thursday evening’s reception in the Virginian Hotel Grand Ballroom will be a more upscale occasion, but not formal or semiformal. While casual dress is fine, if you want to dress up a little, that would be appropriate.

Friday is a casual day, designed for comfort as you attend convocation. Friday evening will be casual as well.

Saturday during the day is casual for whatever you want to do, including campus tours. Saturday evening will transition to a more business casual style.

Reception attendees not staying at The Virginian may use the hotel’s free parking garage behind the hotel. Enter off Main St. or 8th St.

What should we know about the Friday luncheon?

The Friday luncheon will be hosted by Jonathan Falwell and Thomas Road Baptist Church in TRBC’s Bruner Hall. Due to the limited capacity, it is already sold out. Only those who registered at the full rate between August 6 and 8 will be able to attend.

Others are invited to dine in the Reber-Thomas Dining Center. For a very reasonable cost, you can experience all-you-can-eat campus dining quite different than our experience in the ’70s. A large section will be reserved for reunion guests to gather and enjoy conversations with old friends.

What should we know about the Friday night event?

We’ll gather in the large Montview Alumni Ballroom on the 3rd floor of DeMoss Hall for an informal evening of conversations while enjoying heavy hors d’oeuvres. No formal program, although a few folks will be invited to share greetings. There will be plenty of food. Come and hang out—let’s have a party!
